IST 03:15 pm: 1. PlayStation 5 and Xbox One users report that most of the tabs that run along the sidebar on the YouTube app are missing. Subscriptions aren’t showing up either and the only tabs that are showing up are the generic ones like gaming, music, and news.

2. There is a discrepancy between likes and dislikes on the watch page and YouTube Analytics that’s affecting many channels and the YouTube dev team is aware of the issue and already working on a fix.

2. Some users report that video chapters are failing to work on YouTube but the dev team is already looking into the matter.
3. The YouTube app for Xbox keeps crashing for some users and the only way to work around the problem is by re-installing the app, which can be quite frustrating. For this, YouTube has said the following:
If you’re playing a video and launch a game using the ‘app switcher’ the console may shut down due to a Microsoft firmware bug (they’re working to fix it). To get around this, start the game directly from the Home screen or exit the video before using the app switcher.

1. As per recent reports, it seems the issue where videos were not playing/loading and the YouTube app was showing a black screen is still troubling users on consoles and other devices despite being fixed long ago. More on that here.
2. According to recent reports, it looks like the “Oops, something went wrong” when trying to access YouTube Analytics using an Official Artist Channel account issue is back. The issue has been acknowledged with no ETA in sight.
3. Also, the no revenue being displayed on YouTube Analytics bug has also been acknowledged. The company says they are working on a fix and has assured that the revenue will not be affected.
4. The YouTube “Oops, something went wrong” error is now fixed if the word of a Google Community Product Expert is anything to by. Head here for more details on the topic.
5. A recent report indicates that the YouTube app is not working on the LG NanoCell smart TV but the report has been pass on to the relevant team for further investigation. Also, YouTube is working to fix the issue where video edits are not saving.
Apart from that, the issue where comments are disappearing from multiple YouTube videos/channels is at large but it seems it is being monitored constantly by YouTube.
6. It seems YouTube is aware of the issue where the purchased HD content is not available to stream on a web browser except for Safari. On the other hand, the issue where the YouTube videos’ volume was resetting to max has now been fixed.

IST 02:56 pm: Google will be disabling YouTube and other services like Gmail Account sign-ins on Android devices with OS version 2.3.7 or lower starting September 27 as per a fresh report.
This is apparently a step taken to improve the security of your Google account. Those who try signing in on old Android devices may get the ‘username or password error’ message.

IST 10:46 am: New reports now indicate that WPTV (NBC in West Palm Beach FL) hasn’t been working on YouTube TV for the past several hours. The platform now says it is looking into it.

06:36 pm (IST): YouTube app on Chromecast users older than the latest Chromecast with Google TV dongle are unhappy with the latest update that changes the interface.
The new interface is designed to be navigated with a remote control. For this, the smartphone becomes a remote control.
However, users report that this change makes the use of the app more annoying and uncomfortable, since it unnecessarily complicates a process that was previously simple and practical (content casting).

11:22 am (IST): Some YouTube users (desktop) report that the ‘Show more’ or ‘Open description’ button under the videos is not working properly.
When users affected by the issue select the button, the video information is never displayed. In addition, the button ‘Show less’ info appears.
Not all accounts suffer from the bug. So, a workaround is to change the account to one where the description of the videos is shown. Logging out and relogging also reportedly helps.

Users say that most of the time the app doesn’t open. But fortunately, the support team is working on a fix, however, they did not share any ETA.

11:30 am (IST): Many Amazon Fire Tablet owners reported that they were seeing an unlock timer feature on the bottom right of their screen. A Google Community Manager has clarified that it is a scam.

05:20 pm (IST): YouTube is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to loop video chapters. For those unaware, chapters divide a video into chunks to make it easier for viewers to get to a specific section.

09:40 am (IST): Some YouTube users are complaining about an issue where the subscription page doesn’t show any content.

04:07 pm (IST): YouTube is reportedly working on a dedicated voice-over feature for YouTube Shorts. It will allow users to users to record a voiceover without needing any third-party video editor.
06:02 pm (IST): Some YouTube creators are unable to request monetization for their channels. It is all due to the error that occurs during step 2 of the process.
All affected users are getting is the message ‘AdSense account is missing required payment details’. However, the issue has already been escalated to the Google team.
Update 224 (January 29)
YouTube is preparing for a new ‘Add to playlist’ UI for YouTube Music on Android. The new UI will cover the entire screen and includes a carousel for ‘recent’, playlist covers as well as songs.
This is quite a change compared to the previous one where the UI is equally split between the recent and all playlists. However, this feature is still under testing and is yet to roll out on a wider scale.

11:15 am (IST): YouTube Music is reportedly working on a new feature called ‘Recommended radios’. Just like the other recommended section, this will show 10 recommended radios on the waveform cover.

12:05 pm (IST): YouTube Premium subscribers now have access to picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for two more weeks as YouTube has extended the testing period until February 14. It is available as an experimental feature for devices running iOS 14 or later.
12:36 pm (IST): YouTube’s 2MB thumbnail file-size limit may soon be lifted. This has been a request from content creators for years. And now, a response from the YouTube support team suggests that this may happen.
