We understand service outages or breakage are pretty common. But when an outage ends up concerning a massive user base, it becomes worth highlighting. Something similar is happening with Microsoft Azure as of writing this.

For past some time, a proliferation of reports saying Azure is down, not working and showcasing a message stating “http error 503. The service is unavailable” on accessing are populating the online discussion platform Twitter. Take a look at what some of the complainants have to say:

Down detector also conveys Azure is going through a rough patch in some regions.

While reports continue to snowball, the official server status page has confirmed the outage stating:

InformationIssue accessing Azure Portal – 503 Errors – Investigating

Starting at approximately 10:30 UTC we have received reports of customers experiencing 503 errors when trying to access the Azure Portal.

Current Status: Our engineering team is aware of this issue and are actively investigating. The next update will be in 60 mins or as events warrant.
